Streamline HiFi is a small manufacturer in Reno, Nevada that handcrafts stereo record consoles combining a record turntable, tube-hybrid amplification, and built-in speakers inside a single piece of mid-century-inspired furniture. Learn more on the Company section of the Team page.
Streamline HiFi was founded by Steve Morris who combined a background in business and music production with over a decade as a custom-home-building contractor before turning his woodworking and stereo-restoration hobby into a business. Read the full story on our Owner & Company section.
Yes. The company consults with two named electrical engineers — one with a career spanning Intel, Apple and vacuum-tube audio consulting, and another with a R&D background at Meyer Sound Laboratories for guidance on amplifier and acoustic design. Their bios are on the Technical Consultants section of the Team page.
Consoles are handcrafted at the company's own wood shop in Reno, Nevada. Our showroom address and mailing details are listed in the site footer and on the Showroom page.
There are three sizes: Crossroads (compact), Rambler (medium-sized), and Mojo (large, our flagship model). Each is described with photos on the Stereo Record Consoles section of the homepage.
The three models share the same amplifier platform and are scientifically tuned and ported, but they scale up in cabinet size, speaker driver size and footprint. Crossroads is the smallest and most compact, Rambler is mid-sized with a bolder space-age silhouette, and Mojo is the largest, positioned as a full statement piece. Compare the individual write-ups on the Crossroads, Rambler and Mojo pages.
Crossroads measures roughly 31.5"W x 34.75"H x 20.5"D, Rambler about 53.5"W x 33.5"H x 21.5"D, and Mojo about 62"W x 34"H x 22"D. Each model has a dimensional diagram under Technical Specifications.
All three models are built with our 200-watt tube hybrid amplifier platform. What scales in size are driver sizes and the cabinet dimensions and interior space volumes. Also, the stereo presence widens with each console increasing in size, as the speakers are larger and spaced further apart. See the Features list on each model page:
Crossroads is built with Spanish-made Beyma 5.5" low-frequency drivers and Italian Ciare 3" bullet tweeters; Rambler steps up to Beyma 8" drivers and uses Beyma 5" pleated tweeters in conjunction with our proprietary horn adaptor; Mojo uses Italian-made Ciare 12" drivers paired with the same 5" horn-loaded Beyma tweeter. Full driver specs are under Speakers on each Technical Specifications section.
Each console model is offered in English Walnut, Black Walnut, or White Oak. However, there is currently a disruption in the availability of English Walnut that we are working to remedy. So the English Walnut hardwood option is currently subject to current availability. Please inquire directly regarding English Walnut. We can make any model in other requested hardwoods as well, subject to availability. Please contact Steve Morris directly for this and other customization options. Wood swatches with preview panels appear on each console page in the fixed information bar at the bottom of the screen.
The company's position is that solid hardwood construction is essential to a speaker enclosure's long-term structural integrity AND tonal quality, and that veneer-over-panel furniture doesn't hold up the way solid wood construction does over the decades. This reasoning is laid out in our Hardwood or Veneer? section on the homepage.
Categorically Yes. Durability across generations is a primary design goal, which is why the company builds with solid hardwood rather than cheaper composite materials. This philosophy is explained in the Hardwood or Veneer? section.
Standard design touches include a black woven speaker cloth, quality hinge hardware, custom brass knobs, and warm LED interior lighting, along with built-in record storage. The Rambler and Mojo also boast a built-in bar area and come with a Streamline HiFi decanter and two rocks glasses. Unique to Crossroads is a diamond inlay and corner spline inlays. Design Specs:
Every console uses our in-house designed and built Mach 1 amplifier: a Class A tube preamp stage feeding a Class D output stage, our proprietary hybrid amplification solution. Please read our Tube Amplifier Technology section on the homepage.
Our tube stage introduces the warmth and harmonic sonic character that discerning audiophiles expect in vacuum-tube gear, while the Class D output stage supplies the power and bass control that a compact hybrid design demands. See the full explanation, including commonly asked questions in the Tube Amplifier Technology section.
The tube preamp stage runs on 12AU7 and 12AT7 tubes plus a 6×4 rectifier tube - all common, still-in-production tube types. The tubes CAN be replaced, but expect excellent tube lifespan. A full tube lineup is listed under Amp on the console Technical Specifications sections.
Each console has a phono pre-amp input for the built-in turntable, a Bluetooth input, and an open auxiliary input for an external source of choice, plus three-band tone controls for bass, treble and volume. We've recently expanded the Mach I amplifier to also include a phono output - a wonderful option that makes possible connecting the turntable at line-level to auxiliary powered speakers with an analog signal. See Amp specs:
Each console has a built-in belt-driven turntable fitted with an Ortofon 2M Blue elliptical cartridge, a high-density acrylic platter, switchable 33/45 rpm speeds, and a resonance-damped wood plinth. We can also accommodate other turntables by custom order to match listeners' personal preferences. Full turntable specs:
Every console has a built-in WiiM streaming port (a Mini on Crossroads, a Pro Plus on Rambler and Mojo) supporting AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and direct streaming from services like Spotify, TIDAL, Pandora and Qobuz, alongside the turntable. Also, by connecting the phono output on the amplifier to the input of the WiiM streaming port, the turntable signal can connect via bluetooth to other external auxiliary speakers. See the Bluetooth Streaming Port sections:
Yes. The integrated WiiM streamer supports multi-room playback across AirPlay 2, Google Cast and other compatible smart speakers. Please read Bluetooth Streaming Port in the model specs:
